Despite a shaky start to 2025, the index is set for a monthly gain of 6%, beating the S&P 500, which only saw a 3% gain. The ECB is set to cut rates three more times this year to reduce rates to 2% by year-end. Significant gains were seen by Nordic Pharma giant Novartis with a better-than-expected 16% increase and British Engineering group Smiths Group with an 11% gain.
Markets have been going crazy this week, with Nvidia taking a massive hit and a dip in some tech and energy stocks. But, it is not all doom and gloom. For example, between 2003 and 2023, the S&P 500 delivered an average annual return of about 10%. However, if an investor missed just the 10 best days during that period, their return would have dropped by nearly half.
