Bitcoin hits $100,000 milestone

Bitcoin has reached a significant milestone, hitting $100,000 late on Wednesday, following a remarkable surge linked to expectations that President-elect Donald Trump will promote a regulatory environment favourable to cryptocurrencies.

This latest increase occurred shortly after Trump’s appointment of Paul Atkins as the chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, a choice seen as supportive of the crypto industry. Since Trump’s election victory last month, Bitcoin has climbed over 40%, consistently approaching the $100,000 mark and now trading at around $101,000 per coin.

For long-time Bitcoin investors, this marks a moment of celebration after enduring numerous fluctuations in the cryptocurrency market, during which many governmental and financial institutions have been sceptical or even negative towards this asset class.
