Gold Prices Soar to Record High as Single Bar Fetches Over $1 Million

For the first time, the cost of a bar of gold has surpassed one million dollars due to rising prices for this precious metal.

On Friday, spot gold prices exceeded $2,500 per troy ounce, reaching an all-time high. Given that an average gold bar weighs 400 troy ounces, this calculation results in a value of one million dollars.

Year to date, spot gold prices have risen by over 20%. This increase may indicate investors anticipate a forthcoming cut in the Federal Reserve’s benchmark interest rate. Furthermore, central banks, particularly in China, are accumulating gold to reduce their dependence on US dollars.

Central banks and investors regard gold as a stable long-term asset during times of economic uncertainty. Typically, when interest rates decline, gold prices tend to rise, making gold more attractive compared to bonds.

Moreover, investors view gold as a safeguard against inflation, believing its value will be preserved even as prices increase.
