Orange Juice Liquid Gold and Casual Footwear
The breakfast drink of choice, orange juice, has become a potential goldmine for investors. Over the past few years, the main orange-producing regions of Brazil have been hit by extreme weather conditions, leading to a shortage of this liquid gold fruit. As a result, the price of orange juice concentrate, the base of many other fruit juices, has skyrocketed to a record high of $4.77 per pound on the Intercontinental exchange in New York. This has forced manufacturers and blenders to explore alternative fruits like pear, apple, and grape juice to cut costs.
Maker of casual footwear, Birkenstock, announced record-breaking revenue for Q2 with a 23% year-on-year increase, and is predicted to end 20% up on last year. This comes as demand for closed-toe footwear, especially clogs, has more than doubled.
