SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI are all listing an IPO in the coming months. This is exciting news, but who will lose?

Musk’s SpaceX is planning to raise as much as $75 billion when it goes public, making it potentially the largest stock market debut ever. The last was Saudi Aramco’s $26 billion debut.  SpaceX expects to sell 555.6 million shares at $135 per share in its IPO. This flotation could create a market value of $1.77 trillion, which will make Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire.

An obscene amount of capital is being raised for top companies. Alphabet is raising $80 billion, and over the next few months, a combined $350 billion is expected to be raised by companies and new IPOs.

Where is all this capital coming from?

“Ultimately, fund managers are selling stock in what we would call old-fashioned companies and investing in tech. If we add these three companies to the S&P 500, which three will fall out?” – deVere CEO Nigel Green. Old-fashioned industries are getting less investment as investors channel their capital into technology.

Even the magnificent seven didn’t have smooth sailing when they listed. Amazon was the winner, increasing by 483% in its first year, followed by Alphabet at 236%, but Nvidia was down 25%, and Meta was down 65% in its first year (look at them now).

SpaceX lost $2,6 billion from operations last year as it invested heavily in R&D and building infrastructure to support its AI innovations.  It seems you have to spend big to earn big. But the market is looking for profits from AI. Will all this spending ultimately reap rewards?

The real buzzword is sustainability. If these three newbies can show a profit over the next few years, it should reinforce the AI trend and generate even more expansion in the tech and AI world.

While it is easy to ride the current tech and AI waves (profits are soaring), always remain vigilant and hold a diversified portfolio to mitigate the risk of potential big losses. As history has shown us, markets are cyclical, and for every up there is a down before the next up. Market-proof your portfolio now.

Nokia has surged 157% year-to-date. This is a big turnaround from being a casualty at the start of the smartphone era, when it disappeared into oblivion due to competition from the likes of Android and Apple.

While no one was looking, the popular pre-smartphone maker has become an AI infrastructure vendor after acquiring Infinera for $2.3 billion. This means providing infrastructure that lets data move closer to where it is needed.

Nokia made a comeback by acquiring Infinera for its optical networking, which data centres use, and by offering AI-RAN, which embeds AI computing directly into wireless networks, so inference happens at cell towers instead of through roundtrips to a hyperscaler.

Last year, in a $1 billion deal, Nvidia partnered with Nokia to develop infrastructure. Nokia’s cloud and net sales have risen 49% in the first quarter of 2026. AI is increasing demand for advanced connectivity, and Nokia might become the leader in the industry, reclaiming its prestige and place in the markets, not for its mobile phones, but for AI infrastructure.
