With Trump tariffs looming globally, it isn’t easy to make investment decisions. Which sectors are set to struggle, and which sectors will rise above it all and perform well? Companies with foreign interests will suffer the greatest with tariffs as costs will increase, resulting in higher import prices. So, where to invest?
Domestic companies should do well as they will be less affected by tariffs; look to the Russel Index instead of the S&P500. Look to other markets like the DAX that could take advantage of the China/US trade war. Gold is always a good investment as part of a portfolio, as it is a safe haven against volatility. Diversification is the key factor here; always chat with a financial adviser before making investment decisions.
Luxury market giant Hermes reported a 17.6% rise in revenue in the 4th quarter of 2024. The maker of the Birkin handbag beat the odds in a turbulent luxury goods market with strong demand, resulting in a profit of $4.15 billion. Hermes has maintained a sense of allure and exclusivity amidst a slump in the luxury goods market over the last few years. Executive Chairman Axel Dumas attributes their success to the loyalty of customers and the strength of the Hermes model. The biggest winner was the leather goods and saddlery segment, which accounted for over half of the group’s revenue.
It seems the demand for luxury leather goods as timeless investments remains a priority for consumers.
